Africa Human Capital in Science, Technology & Agripreneurship for Food Security Framework (AHC-STAFF)
Project Overview
This report presented an in-depth analysis of human capacity requirements in Sierra Leone’s agriculture sector, with a focus on improving productivity and addressing critical gaps along key agricultural value chains. The study covered four key areas: a review of national agricultural policies, a yield gap analysis for essential crops and livestock, an evaluation of human capital requirements along value chains, and a general forecast of human capital needs in the sector.
The report provided a comprehensive assessment of institutional challenges, skills shortages, and specific barriers to agricultural growth, with particular emphasis on rice, cassava, cocoa, and small ruminants. It concluded with targeted recommendations to enhance workforce planning, training, and policy frameworks aimed at driving sustainable agricultural development.
