Poverty and Durables in Sierra Leone: A Multidimensional Analysis

Statistics Sierra Leone and United Nations Population Fund

Project Overview

This report presents an analysis of multidimensional poverty in Sierra Leone, broadly focusing on deprivations in education, health, and standard of living domains. Using the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative's methodology, the report examines the current state of poverty across the country and offers detailed insights into the lack of access to key goods and services such as adequate schooling, healthcare, electricity, housing, water and sanitation, and ownership of key assets including communication, media, digital, preservation and heating household goods. . The findings underscore the urgency of improving these critical household entitlements, particularly in rural regions and districts with the highest rates of deprivation. The report also provides key recommendations for targeted interventions to address these welfare issues and improve living conditions across Sierra Leone.
