Women’s Financial Inclusion in Sierra Leone: A Review and Product Mapping Analysis
Project Overview
This project addressed the critical barriers to women’s access to finance in Sierra Leone, an issue central to economic empowerment and sustainable development. DDS conducted a comprehensive desk review to identify the key enablers and blockers of women’s financial inclusion, mapping existing financial products and services to uncover gaps and opportunities.
The research developed strategic recommendations to widen and deepen women’s financial access, with a particular focus on the agricultural sector. Key findings highlighted the lack of gender-specific financial products, geographic disparities in financial services, and limited fintech solutions targeting women.
Recommendations emphasized tailored financial product design, leveraging technology, enhancing financial literacy, fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships, and advocating for supportive policy frameworks to create a more inclusive financial landscape in Sierra Leone.
